Why does the noise on my CB radio get quieter when I hold onto the Mic Cable? - cb radio dx

I think it is a question of grounding, I may be wrong. All the reasons seem in order. Furthermore, the amount of atmospheric noise is common? This is my first CB radio and I do not know how much you can expect.
